Dr Leah Herrgen

Founder and Director

Leah brings deep expertise in biotechnology and a long-standing passion for sustainability to her role as founder and director of NorthStar Proteins.

With a degree in biochemistry and a PhD in cell biology, she has the vital knowledge required for the innovative bioprocess development that is the focus of NorthStar Proteins. Prior to starting the company, Leah led multiple complex scientific projects in both academia and industry. Her industry experience includes over five years of working at a high-growth green biotech start-up company.

With her strong background in biotechnology and extensive experience of working in a start-up environment, Leah is ideally placed to lead NorthStar Proteins on its journey towards becoming a successful, sustainable biotech company.

Dr Jo Partridge

Advisory Board Member

Jo Partridge has over 30 years’ hands-on experience working in the biotech sector, spanning academia, spin-outs, and high-growth companies.

Starting at the bench, Jo has spent much of her career focused on translating deep tech innovation into commercially viable products and processes. She has held senior roles within science-led organisations including MiAlgae, IBioIC and XstalBio, with experience spanning operations, commercialisation, and scale-up.

As an advisor to NorthStar Proteins, Jo acts as a sounding board, supporting the company as it develops its technology and grows its commercial and operational activities.
